John Williams was appointed as a Trade Commissioner for Canada in July 2013. He is responsible for the natural resources sector in Australia - supporting Canadian companies develop business in Australia, and increasingly supporting Australian companies investing into Canada.
Immediately prior to this role, John spent 15 months in London as European Director for Trade & Investment Queensland. His 28 year British diplomatic career included postings in commercial sections in Jakarta, Johannesburg, Moscow and finally Lagos. From 1999 to 2003, he was posted to Toronto as head of the UK Government’s investment team in Canada. Other diplomatic assignments took him to Central and South America, India and the Middle East. But Australia is now home, where he’s proud to wear the Maple Leaf!
