Maarten van Koppen joined Maclean in May 2020 as the Product Manager – Mine Operations. Maarten brings 12 years of experience as a mining engineer in Canada. Maarten graduated with a Masters of Science in Resource Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands in 2008 and completed his MBA at the Edinburgh Business School with Specialism in Strategic Planning in 2019.
For the majority of Maarten’s career, he focussed on project development, with the most notable project being the all-electric Borden Mine Project in Northeastern Ontario. Maarten’s role was to oversee all engineering from scratch to prefeasibility study, and to compile the prefeasibility study and business case. After completion of that study Maarten continued to be involved in long term engineering challenges and in securing significant public funding for the project. Borden achieved commercial production on schedule and under budget in 2019.
In Maarten’s new role he collaborates in MacLean’s product development pipeline, as well as working with key customers to see how MacLean’s technology solutions could provide better overall value for their projects and operations.
