Nordic Minesteel Technologies (NMT) and Schalke Locomotives provide engineered material handling, rail haulage, shaft and specialised maintenance solutions to the global mining industry. Headquartered in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, NMT designs and manufactures purpose built equipment for underground and surface mining applications. Its capabilities span complete rail haulage systems, Nordic loading chutes, rail cars, continuous loading and unloading stations, shaft conveyances, skips, cages, head sheaves, shaft steel and specialised mine maintenance equipment. Schalke Locomotives, headquartered in Germany, specialises in custom mining, industrial and service locomotives ranging from compact underground units through to heavy haul locomotives exceeding 100 tonnes. Its ModuTrac platform supports diesel, battery electric, overhead catenary and hybrid configurations, providing operators with flexible pathways toward automation and lower emission operations.

Together, NMT and Schalke can deliver an integrated rail haulage solution incorporating locomotives, rail cars, loading and unloading stations, track systems, electrification, train control and automation. These systems have been deployed at major mining operations including PT Freeport Indonesia’s Grasberg Block Cave, LKAB’s Kiruna mine in Sweden and Codelco’s El Teniente mine in Chile. Modern automated rail haulage offers mining companies a proven pathway to high capacity, low emission material movement with high availability and significantly lower operating costs over long mine lives.

Beyond rail, NMT provides engineered shaft infrastructure and conveyance systems and innovative maintenance technology including the Titan220e ultra class haul truck jacking system. The remote operated Titan220e combines a 220 US ton lifting system, engineered safety stand and work platform into a single machine, reducing personnel exposure during haul truck maintenance while improving maintenance efficiency and truck availability.

With manufacturing capability in Canada and Germany and an established Australian operation, NMT and Schalke are positioned to support mining companies, EPCMs and contractors throughout Australia and the wider Asia Pacific region from early concept and
