Citadel Medical

Citadel Medical aims to lead a transformation of occupational health care on remote resources and energy sites to reduce the occurrence of lost time injuries and incidents.

The company was founded by Fin English, a paramedic with broad, on-road and industry-specific experience and a passion for improving the delivery of health care services at remote, resource-projects.

Because this is a highly-competitive business environment characterised by suppliers with a focus on providing health care at the lowest cost possible, services are limited and corners are cut in an effort to win market share.

This is often to the detriment of patient wellbeing and, as a result, detrimental to the client company.

Citadel Medical knows a purely cost-focussed approach is not in the best interest of the client.

Solid statistical evidence indicates an improved level of on-site health care directly influences project productivity and profitability.

Health promotion on various construction projects has resulted in increased productivity rates of between 7% - 16%.

A variety of return-on-investment studies have shown that for every dollar invested in health promotion over a three-year period the return-on-investment for employers’ ranges from $1.40 to $4.70.

The significant improvement to the management of injury and illness and the reduction in lost-time injuries (LTI’s) is of significant benefit to both the employee and the employer.

Citadel Medical understands the importance of maintaining staff continuity throughout any project and that staff turnover opens gaps in knowledge and increases risk and recruits paramedics to high standards with a view to reducing the client’s risk profile.

Our paramedics, who boast extensive on-road and military experience, develop an intimate awareness of how to respond to site-specific emergencies and are able to provide best-practice care to the highest of standards.

Since early 2019 Citadel Medical has provided paramedic services to 900 construction personnel at Rio Tinto’s West Angeles D and C Deposits construction project site in WA’s Pilbara region.

The company operates an open-door policy at its on-site clinics to ensure paramedical staff have an awareness of any health issues that may be affecting site personnel.

At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in early 2020, Citadel Medical was able to, within just 10 days, establish two high-volume Covid-19 screening facilities at Perth airport to provide the screening services required by one of the world’s largest mining houses.

A staff of more than 300 nurses and support personnel was engaged and Citadel Medical was able to screen up to 500 people per hour at each location and the facilities were constantly improved and adapted to cater to the client’s ongoing need.

More than 220,000 workers were screened in 2020.

As a result, the client company was able to continue the seamless operation of its mining assets in Western Australia during the pandemic and Citadel Medical was able to contribute to the resilience of the Western Australian and Australian economies.

This experience has established a firm experiential and financial basis upon which Citadel Medical can now offer clients the benefit of high-quality evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.

Citadel Medical provides the most up-to-date, effective technologies and systems to ensure we are consistently equipped with the resources to provide care to a best-practice standard.

We focus on the mental wellbeing of workers to maintain a safe and productive work environment.

We can provide emergency response vehicles (ambulance and fire) equipped with the latest equipment to allow our paramedics and emergency service officers to provide an appropriate and cost-effective service to our clients.

Citadel Medical is also an experienced provider of pre-employment medical (PEM) tests and offers a full suite of executive health-care solutions to clients in the resources and construction industries.
