Next Gen Program for Students, Graduates & Future Leaders

Providing an opportunity for the industry's future workforce to network, learn and be inspired by leaders in mining, resources, and technology at Australia's largest mining event. Participants will have the opportunity to create career opportunities and recognise where they can make their mark on such critical industries of the future.

With over 8,000 people attending IMARC either in-person or online, participants of the Next Gen program will have to opportunity to gain insights from over 250 thought leaders speaking within the conference program; meet over 200 companies in industry with a 13,000m2 exhibition and connect with mining C-suite executives, human resources' managers, and key advocates for exploration, mining, sustainability, and engineering, to name a few.

Developed in partnership with the Victorian Government, the program is committed to promoting STEM across the mining and resources industry by providing access to IMARC.

We invite students, graduates, and young leaders to nominate yourself or a colleague before January 14 to be in the running for:

30 successful applicants will receive a complimentary three-day all access delegate pass to attend IMARC which includes access to the conference, exhibition, delegate networking functions as well as access to the IMARC Connect meeting planner.

50 successful applicants will receive a complimentary one-day delegate pass to attend IMARC on Wednesday 2 February 2022 which includes access to the conference, exhibition and delegate networking reception.

Successful applicants will also be given the opportunity to:

  • Gain insights from industry thought leaders on topics including technology and innovation, future energy and investment, exploration, sustainability and community, and future workforce planning with a packed program of conference presentations
  • Participate in a panel discussion as part of the conference, on a topic related to an area of your study or interest
  • Attend the Next Gen Networking Function on the Wednesday, 2 February 2022
  • Be considered for 1 of 10 seats on the sponsored Next Gen table at the IMARC Gala Dinner on the evening of Wednesday 2 February 2022
  • Meet the Victorian Government’s Chief Scientist to discuss STEM opportunities and challenges, as well as gain further insight into potential opportunities for you within the sector
  • Discuss graduate opportunities and experiences in the mining and resources sector with Newcrest Mining at their dedicated graduate booth on the exhibition floor
  • Take part in the Next Gen Exhibition Tour where you can meet with graduate, organisational development, human resources and talent managers from participating mining and METS' exhibitors to discuss career opportunities at their workplace

Applications close January 14, 2022 with the successful applicants notified by email on, or before January 21.
