Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer

Pulse

I am the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pulse Mining Systems and Pulse Analytics. Pulse is the world-leading provider of business management systems for the mining industry, proudly established as an Australian-owned technology company for more than 35 years.

Starting my profession as an engineer, I spent seven years as the project manager for large-scale civil infrastructure construction projects. This is where I first learned to have a deep understanding of client needs and what it takes to deliver results that consistently exceed expectations.

I joined Pulse in 1999 to lead teams from initial project scoping with clients to delivery, producing sophisticated ERP software and BI solutions for the mining industry. At the time, the company was transitioning its suite of mining-specific solutions into the centralised Pulse ERP, which then allowed all mining methodologies and resource types to be managed with full system integration.

As the Director of Analytics & Innovation at Pulse from 2006, I led the design and development of Pulse Analytics, the world’s first agnostic data analysis and reporting system for mining, enabling mine managers to make better tactical decisions, as well as the extension of the Pulse ERP system into the management of marketing, logistics, and planning; our mobility suite, new UX/UI, and more. With the rolling impetus from this period, and our culture of agile teamwork embedded, Pulse grew its global reputation as an Australian technology company making world-first breakthroughs.

My philosophy is straightforward and engendered throughout our company’s lean, agile approach to product development and delivery. We listen to our clients, ensure that we understand their needs, and work hard to deliver the solutions, services, and levels of support they expect from Pulse as their business technology partners. We strive to be responsive, collaborative, and value oriented.

Pulse offers career opportunities, which is evidenced by my own career. My first job title at Pulse was Development Team Lead and I became the head of the company in 2019. There are more than 60 people working at Pulse today and many of our company leaders and team leads have risen through the ranks under mentorship to become mentors themselves. I keep ahead of the curve, and I still enjoy mentoring software development teams to continuously improve and deliver.
