David Woodall FAusIMM

David Woodall is a mining engineer and graduate of Curtin University with a Masters of Science in Mineral Economics and Graduate Diploma in Business. He has over 30 years’ experience in senior corporate and executive roles in Australia, Fiji, Central Asia, Indonesia, China, PNG and North America.  

 

David has utilized his experience across the value chain at operational, corporate and board levels to maximise shareholder value. Prior to joining ASM, he was the CEO of an ASX Listed Canadian-focused base metals development company where he drove the development of a new mineral resource for the project, instigated tenure wide exploration programs resulting in a 10% increase in resource, and raised A$5M equity through Singaporean and Australian investors and institutions.

In his wide and varied international career, David has resolved metallurgical recovery of one of the most complex and undeveloped gold metallurgical deposits in Kazakhstan, has been accountable for the operational leadership of one of Rio Tinto’s largest mines, assisted an ASX listed company to acquire, project manage and negotiate a potential high-grade gold project in the US, and implemented a performance management process across mines in PNG, Indonesia and Cote d’Ivoire that delivered over $600 million in cost savings and efficiency improvements.

David takes a team-based leadership approach to achieving outcomes and has managed large, geographically distant teams in multiple locations and from different cultures (countries, unionised, aging workforce, new teams). He is a Member of the Australian Institute on Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
