Eric Winsborrow

Eric is the General Manager of New Business Strategy in the Digital Solution Promotion Division at Hitachi Construction Machinery, responsible for leading strategic planning and execution for establishing a new organization driving digital transformation in the mining industry. Eric has over a quarter century of Silicon Valley experience, introducing disruptive next generation technology solutions to global markets for Networking, Cyber Security and the Industrial Internet of Things.

Prior to Hitachi, Eric was the CEO of Distrix Networks, a company that developed secure next generation sensor networks for the US Government and Industrial IoT customers worldwide. Eric was also CEO of Shadow Networks, an advanced cyber security company using Software Defined Networks to deceive attackers that were already operating inside enterprise networks. Eric has also served in executive roles in Product Management for Silicon Valley leaders such as Cisco Systems, creating the 1.0 version of Voice over IP, Symantec, leading Product Management for the company’s flagship $450M Enterprise Antivirus business, and Vice President of Product Marketing at McAfee, in addition to extensive experience as a technology startup executive and in Venture Capital. 

Eric is a sought after thought leader on Industrial IoT and cyber security, and has been a keynote speaker for many organizations and events including IoT World, the Department of Homeland Security, the US Secret Service, and is a TED talk speaker on international cyber espionage. He majored in Engineering Physics and Economics at McMaster University in Canada, and has an MBA in International Business from Institute for International Studies in Japan.
