Greg Hanna

Greg is an award-winning seriel entrepreneur who has founded and exited several businessesover the past 30 years. 

He has raised significant capital for his founded businesses from institutional investors such as Barclays Capital (UK), Hannover Re (Germany) and Coronation Capital (South Africa). Additionally, he has enjoyed long term mutually beneficial partnerships with these investors, some lasting nearly 20 years. 

After selling his real estate portfolio, in 2015 he moved to Canada and founded Destiny Copper, a breakthrough clean technology that produces high purity copper from waste solutions generated by both mining and industrial waste, using almost zero energy. The company has grown dramatically from its original startup base at Brock University to now working with companies across the globe, including the Canadian Space Agency and some of the largest tier 1 mining companies.

Greg has been married to his lovely wife Jo Hanna, for over 20 years and they have four children.

He has a Business Leadership Certificate from the Gordon Institute of Business Science and has received many awards including the ones listed below:

• 2000: State President's Export Award, from the President of South Africa, Thabo Mbeki
• 2003: Overall Grand Prix Exporter of the Year Award 2003 (beating SABMiller, now owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev)
• 2024: Niagara Business Excellence Awards GNCC: Environmental Leadership Award and Innovation & Technology Award
• 2025: Canada 2025 Clean50 Award
• 2025: Foresight 50, Canada's Most Investible Cleantech Ventures
