Luarna was born in Mackay Qld and raised on Palm Island in Qld. In 2017 she worked as a heavy machinery operator at Peak Downs Mine in Qld and then in 2019 went on to become Chairperson of the Barada Barna Aboriginal Corporation - the traditional owner of Bowen Basin.
