Mark Compton is the executive director of the American Exploration & Mining Association (AEMA), based in Spokane Valley, Washington. Mark rejoined AEMA in 2019 after serving seven years as president of the Utah Mining Association. Mark previously spent time at AEMA (then known as the Northwest Mining Association) as government affairs manager, and he has nearly thirty years of government affairs experience.
Prior to joining the mining industry, he served on the congressional and gubernatorial staff of C.L. “Butch” Otter of Idaho, and he also has worked as a forester and public affairs specialist in the forest products industry throughout the Northwest. A native of Virginia, Mark now resides on the outskirts of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
