Robert Stein is Chief Executive Officer of Latrobe Magnesium (ASX: LMG), appointed on 1 October 2026 to succeed founder David Paterson, who retired after 20 years leading the company.
A qualified chemical engineer with an MBA from Melbourne Business School, Mr Stein brings more than 20 years' experience across the resources sector in technical, financial and commercial roles. Early in his career, he worked with GHD and PwC on energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects, before spending close to a decade at BHP in corporate finance, business development and strategy. He then headed strategy, planning and evaluation at MMG Limited and, most recently, led Macquarie Group's Resources Research franchise, covering the Australian mining and metals sector.
His experience spans ferrous, base and critical minerals value chains, combining technical and commercial depth with a market orientation forged in equity analysis.
