Robin is a senior thought-leader in the metals and mining sector, with 29 years in mining and commodity research.
Prior to joining Commodity Insights as Head of Research, Robin spent 22 years at Wood Mackenzie where he was Vice President, M&M markets. Robin has spent many years in both coal consulting and research roles, leading Wood Mackenzie’s metallurgical coal research, and undertaking global mine cost estimation and supply analysis for both coal and base metals.
Robin has been a regular speaker at industry events and for senior leadership groups covering the energy transition, megatrends in the steel, power and battery value chains, as well as specific outlooks for coal, iron ore, base metals, battery raw materials and rare earths.
Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie Robin spent seven years in the power and coal industries in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia and Australia undertaking coal procurement, exploration, project development, geological and engineering roles. Robin also worked as a coal marketer selling thermal coal in Asia.
Robin holds a BSc (Hons) in Geology and an MSc in Mining Engineering, from Camborne School of Mines, UK
