Mr Dobson has over 35 years’ international experience leading and developing world-class mining operations, with a successful track record in transformational leadership.

Prior to joining Magnetite Mines in 2022, he was CEO of Heron Resources, which he joined in early 2020 as Covid-19 impacts forced mine closures and established a strategic process leading to the refinancing and resumption of mining operations. Prior to that, he was President of Sherritt International’s US$8bn Ambatovy project in Madagascar during its transition from early ramp-up to stable operations before assuming responsibility for the company’s nickel and cobalt operations in Canada and Cuba. He has also held executive leadership roles with Norilsk Nickel, Lihir Gold, Kimberley Rare Earths, Anova Metals, and Polymetals, where he led the successful development of the White Dam project in South Australia. Mr Dobson holds a BAppSc in Extractive Metallurgy from the WA School of Mines.
