Tom Reid

Tom Reid is Director Industry & Advocacy at the Australian Resources and Energy Employer Association (AREEA), where he leads the organisation’s national policy, advocacy and public affairs activities.

With more than 15 years’ experience in the resources and energy sector, Tom works closely with member companies and governments to shape workplace, industrial relations and workforce policy affecting employers across the industry.

He leads AREEA’s engagement with federal and state governments, parliamentary inquiries and regulatory processes, and advises industry leaders on political, regulatory and reputational risks.

Tom also works with member companies on strategic communications and stakeholder engagement, including crisis management protocols and communications strategies supporting enterprise bargaining and major workforce initiatives.

He oversees AREEA’s industry campaigns and projects, including the organisation’s Resources Workforce Forecasting reports and broader initiatives supporting workforce capability and the sector’s social licence to operate.

Prior to joining AREEA, Tom was a specialist business and legal journalist covering Australia’s resources and energy industry during the peak of the investment and construction boom.

He holds qualifications in Business Administration, Communications, and Public Participation.
