Wendy Tyrrell is Executive Director of the Development Partner Institute. The DPI is working to promote the vision of miners becoming innovative and proactive development partners over the long term - delivering on economic, environmental, and social shared purpose.
The DPI works in resource-rich communities, countries, and regions. It creates ways for different industry sectors and non-traditional stakeholders to come together with miners, to sow seeds for new collaboration and fresh ideas and approaches to emerge. The work is progressively expanding across Africa, the Americas, and the Indo-Pacific. Working within sustainability for 25+ years, Wendy has held senior roles in BHP and Orica and led a niche consulting firm that works internationally. Wendy is a currently a Director of AVI, an international development company. She has held prior Board roles including at Transparency International Australia and the global Extractives Industry Transparency Initiative. Wendy has developed her passion working across different geographical and cultural contexts, seeing first-hand that bringing diverse stakeholders together can spark new ideas and ways of thinking and working, to positively contribute to the sustainable development of countries and regions. Wendy is a Graduate and member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She holds a Masters' degree in International Relations and a Bachelor of Applied Science.
